Research Interests

Theoretical studies of climate and atmospheric circulation including climate modeling (GCM's, coupled atmosphere/ocean models, and simplified models), climate change (caused, for example, by changes in atmospheric CO2 and anthropogenic and volcanic aerosols), detection of climate change, paleoclimate (and Milankovitch forcing of climate change), climate sensitivity and processes, unintended consequences of geoengineering, numerical methods, and metrics for gauging model performance.
