CMIP I Requested List of Data

The following output data have been requested from each participating modeling group in CMIP I.

Atmospheric Fields: 

• DJF and JJA seasonal means (minimum 30-year averages) 

geographical distributions  

• precipitation
• sea level pressure
• wind stress (u and v components)
• net surface heat flux at the air-sea interface
• net surface freshwater flux at the air-sea interface
• flux adjustments, if any
• ice/snow cover--average distribution of depth

zonal mean cross sections 

• temperature
• u-component wind
• v-component wind
• moisture

• time series of monthly mean "surface air temperature" (as defined for each model, e.g. temperature at 2 meters above the surface, at lowest atmospheric vertical level, etc.)

• variability, cross sections
• standard deviation of annual mean zonal mean temperature (minimum 30 years)
• standard deviation of decadal mean zonal mean temperature

Oceanic Fields: 

• annual means (minimum 30-year averages)
• zonal mean cross sections of meridional overturning streamfunction, global and by basin
• vertically integrated 
• global horizontal mass transport streamfunction
• zonal mean heat transport, by basin

• DJF and JJA seasonal means (minimum 30-year averages) 
• zonal mean cross sections, by basin
• temperature
• salinity

• geographic distributions
• sea surface temperature\
• surface salinity
